I Lost A Sock (and found something important)

🚀 𝐈 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐀 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐤 (𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭)

I lost a sock this morning.

Nothing dramatic. Just pulled my laundry out of the dryer and counted 11 socks instead of 12.

But as I stood there holding the lone survivor - a perfectly good black dress sock with no partner - something struck me.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠?

That sock reminded me of a conversation I had with David last month.

"I'm pretty good at presentations," he told me. "I mean, I get my points across. People seem to follow along."

But David wasn't calling me because he was satisfied. He was calling because he knew something was missing.

"I just feel like there's more," he admitted. "Like I'm only using half of what I could be."

He was right. David had good content, solid preparation, decent delivery. But his voice - the very instrument that carried his message - was operating at maybe 60% of its potential.

After two months of vocal coaching, David sent me a message: "I finally feel complete as a communicator. I didn't realize what I was missing until I found it."

Your voice might be getting you by, but is it getting you where you want to go?

P.S. I never did find that other sock. But David found his complete voice, and it changed everything about how he shows up professionally. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠?
